Start by dabbing the stain with a clean cloth to absorb as much of the liquid as you can. Then check the manufacturer’s instructions on the tag. If they suggest treating the garment with cold water, rinse stained area in cold water and gently rub fabric together. Do not scrub too harshly as this could damage the material.

To get rid of any remaining wine stain, try using white vinegar. This can work wonders at softening and lightening stain. For greater effectiveness, make a solution of one part white vinegar and two parts water. Dip a cloth in the solution and dab the stained area until the wine is gone.

If white vinegar doesn't do the trick, try mixing a solution of 1-liter warm water, 2 tablespoons of baking soda, and 2 tablespoons of dishwashing detergent. Gently rub the stained area with this solution using a toothbrush or other soft-bristle brush. Be sure not to scrub fabric too aggressively. Afterwards, rinse the garment in cold water and repeat if necessary.

Finally, you can use a laundry pre-treatment product to help remove stubborn wine stains. Simply follow the instructions on the pre-treatment package and allow the product to sit on stain for 15 minutes before putting it in the washing machine. After washing, examine the t-shirt to ensure that the stain is gone.

With a few simple steps and a little bit of patience, you can successfully remove most wine stains from your t-shirts. Remember to always read the label first and test the solution on a hidden area before applying it directly to the stain.
