What You’ll Need

  • White vinegar
  • Bleach (if applicable)
  • Laundry detergent
  • Sponge
  • Toothbrush
  • Distilled water

Instructions

  1. Start by treating the stain as soon as possible. Use a paper towel or cloth to blot the excess wine from the tights. Do not rub as this will spread the stain.
  2. Mix together one part white vinegar to one part distilled water. Soak a sponge in the solution and apply it directly to the stained area.
  3. Continue to dab at the stain until it starts to lift. If it's still there, you can add a small amount of laundry detergent to the solution and try again.
  4. Once stain is gone, rinse the tights with cold water. If the stain has not completely disappeared, you can repeat the process with bleach.
  5. Finally, machine wash the tights on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Allow them to air dry and admire your handiwork!

Tips

  • If you don't have white vinegar, you can use lemon juice instead.
  • Rubbing alcohol can also be used to treat stubborn wine stains.
  • If the wine stain is especially tough, use a toothbrush to scrub the area gently.
  • Always read the care label before you start washing and follow the manufacturer's instructions.
