Start by sprinkling a small amount of laundry detergent onto the stained area of the fabric. Rub the detergent gently into the fabric to help lift the stain from the fibres.
Mix one tablespoon of white vinegar with one tablespoon of warm water. Use an old toothbrush to apply the mixture directly onto the stain. Be sure to scrub gently, taking care not to damage the fabric.
Rinse the stained area with cold water and use a white cloth to blot away the excess liquid. Do not rub the fabric, as this may cause the stain to spread further.
Hang item of clothing so that it can air dry, then give it a final check for any remaining stains. If necessary, repeat steps 2 and 3 until the stain is completely removed.
