Removing Fresh Red Wine Stains

First, the most important step is to act fast. Blot the stain with a paper towel to absorb some of liquid and prevent it from spreading further.

Next, mix together one tablespoon of detergent with two cups of cold water. Saturate the stained area with the mixture and allow it to sit for five minutes. Then, take a clean cloth and gently rub the stain while it’s still wet.

If the stain persists, you can use a small amount of white vinegar mixed with water and rub it gently into the fabric. This will help to break down molecules in wine stain. Allow it to sit for five minutes and then rinse it off with cold water.

Removing Dried Red Wine Stains

If the wine stain has already dried, you will need to use a stronger solution. Mix together one tablespoon of dish soap, one tablespoon of white vinegar, and two cups of warm water. Soak the stained area for twenty minutes and then gently rub it with a clean cloth. Rinse area with cold water.

If stain remains, you can try using hydrogen peroxide. Make sure to test it on an inconspicuous area first to make sure it won’t damage the fabric. Make a solution of one part hydrogen peroxide and two parts water. Saturate the stained area and let it sit for five minutes. Rub the area with a clean cloth and rinse with cold water.

If the stain is still there, you can try using an enzyme-based cleaner. These cleaners are designed to break down the molecules that cause stains and they can be very effective. Follow the instructions on the package and be sure to test it on a small area first.

Preventing Future Stains

To keep your sweatpants in top shape, you’ll want to take some preventive measures. First, always remember to blot up spills right away - this will help prevent them from staining fabric.

Second, if you have stained sweatpants, try pre-treating the fabric with an enzyme-based laundry detergent. This will help to break down the molecules in the stain and make removal easier.

Finally, if you’re wearing sweatpants out to a bar or party, it’s always a good idea to choose dark colors. Dark colors won’t show stains as easily and can be easily spot treated if necessary.
