Step 1: Absorb

Before doing anything else, use a paper towel or absorbent cloth to blot up as much of the wine as possible. Do not scrub or rub at the stain, as that may cause it to spread. Keep soaking up the wine until there is no liquid left.

Step 2: Pre-treat

Once excess liquid is gone, grab a small bowl and prepare a mixture of equal parts white vinegar and warm water. Dip a cloth in the solution, making sure to wring it out well so it's damp but not soaking. Apply it directly to the stain and allow it to sit for 10-15 minutes. If you don't have vinegar, using a bit of laundry detergent can also do the trick.

Step 3: Rinse and Repeat

Carefully move the fabric around to make sure the pre-treatment solution has reached the entire stain. After 15 minutes, rinse the garment with cold water. If the stain is still visible, repeat Steps 2 & 3. Once satisfied, launder as you would normally. Make sure to check that the stain is completely gone before throwing it in dryer.
