Wine stains have way of appearing on our clothes, especially at the end of a fun night out. The good news is that cleaning them up doesn’t have to be a difficult process. The key is to act quickly and use the right cleaning agents.

Step 1: Blot Away Access Liquid

Using a paper towel or white cloth, gently press down on the stained area to absorb as much of liquid as possible. Do not rub or scrub the stain as this could spread it or cause it to set further into fabric.

Step 2: Pre-Treat with Detergent

Apply a pre-treatment detergent like spray stain remover or liquid laundry detergent directly to stain. Then, let garment sit for about 10 minutes before continuing.

Step 3: Wash in Hot Water

Wash the shorts in hot water on the longest cycle possible with an enzyme detergent to effectively clean the fabric. If you can, add some white vinegar to the wash cycle as it is known to help remove stubborn stains.

Step 4: Check for Results

After the washing cycle ends, check the shorts for results. If the stain is visible, repeat steps one and two and then put the shorts into a new hot wash cycle with detergent.

Step 5: Air Dry

Finally, hang the shorts up to air dry and inspect them again for any remaining stains. After they’re completely dry, you can follow the care instructions provided by the garment label and either machine or hand wash shorts in cold water moving forward.
