If you’ve got a red wine stain on your shift dress, don’t panic! You can try a few strategies to help lift the stain. First, soak the area of the stain in white wine for 10-15 minutes, this may help to break up the red wine stain. Next, dab the area with a clean cloth and then rinse it with cold water. If this doesn’t do trick, apply a solution of 1 part liquid dish soap and 1 part white vinegar to the area and let it sit for 15 minutes. Rinse it and repeat if needed.
When it comes to white wine stains, they can sometimes be more difficult to remove due to the lack of color. Begin the cleaning process by blotting the area with a clean cloth. Gently pour cold club soda on the stain. The bubbles in the soda can help lift stain from the fabric. Then, dip a clean cloth in an enzyme-based laundry detergent and gently rub the stained area. Allow the detergent to sit for 15 minutes before rinsing it out. Repeat, if necessary.
If your shift dress is made with delicate fabric, you want to be careful when removing a wine stain. Try using a mild detergent and cool water. Apply the detergent directly to the stain and then, using a soft bristled brush, gently scrub the area. Be sure to scrub in a circular motion and rinse often. Another option is to rub a solution of 1/4 cup of ammonia and 1/4 cup of cool water onto the stain. Rinse with cold water afterwards.
These techniques can help remove both red and white wine stains from a shift dress. If you are still having trouble getting rid of the stain, try taking the dress to a professional cleaner. With these tips, you should be able to get rid of those tough wine stains with ease.
