Step 1: Blot the Stain

The first step to cleaning a wine stain on your robe is to simply blot the stain. You don't want to rub the stain as that can spread the spill further, making it harder to clean up. Instead, use a clean, unfolded paper towel or cloth to press gently on the stained area. This will help to absorb some of liquid and reduce the impact of the stain.

Step 2: Pre-treat with Detergent

Once you have blotted away some of the liquid, the next step is to apply a pre-treatment solution. Make sure that you use a detergent or laundry pre-treater that is meant for colorfast fabrics. Apply the product to the stained area and allow it to sit for five minutes before washing.

Step 3: Wash and Repeat

Once you have pre-treated the stained area, you can wash it as normal. However, it is a good idea to use a product specifically made for wine stains, such as a stain remover or a dish soap. If stain still remains after a single wash cycle, repeat the pre-treatment and wash steps until the stain is gone.
