Step 1: Pre-Treat the Stain

The first step is to pre-treat the stain as quickly as possible. The longer the stain sits, the harder it will be to remove, so it's important to act quickly. The best way to pre-treat a wine stain is to use a mixture of vinegar and water. Mix one teaspoon of white vinegar with one cup of warm water and gently dab the solution onto the stained area. Let the solution sit for a few minutes and then blot it off with a clean cloth.

Step 2: Soak the Stain

Once you've pre-treated the stain, it's time to soak the stained item. Fill a sink or large bowl with cold water and add a few drops of mild laundry detergent. Submerge the stained robe in the solution and allow it to soak for at least 30 minutes. If possible, agitate the robe periodically as it soaks to help lift the stain.

Step 3: Wash the Robe

When the soaking is finished, remove the robe from the solution and gently wring out any excess water. Place the robe into the washing machine and wash it according to garment's care instructions. If you're able to, set the water temperature to cold and wash robe on the gentle cycle. After the wash cycle is finished, either hang the robe up to air dry or put it in the dryer (on the lowest heat setting).

Step 4: Make Sure the Stain Is Gone

Once robe is dry, take a closer look at the stained area. If the stain is still visible, repeat Steps 1-3 until the stain is completely gone.
