No matter how careful you are, it happens to the best of us: You’re out with friends, enjoying a few glasses of wine, and accidentally spill some on your favorite poncho. Don’t fret – there are easy ways you can get rid of the stain and restore your poncho to its former glory.
The first step in removing a red wine stain from a poncho is to act quickly. Blot the stained area with paper towels or a clean cloth to soak up as much of the red wine as possible. Don’t rub or spread stain.
Mix together a paste of baking soda and water. Apply the paste directly to the wine stain, using a soft brush or toothbrush to gently scrub the mixture into the fabric. Allow the paste to sit for 15 minutes before rinsing it away with cold water.
For stubborn stains, apply white vinegar directly to the stain. Gently rub vinegar into the fabric with a soft cloth and then rinse it away with cold water. Repeat this step until the stain is gone.
If the stain persists, treat it with a regular laundry detergent. Place a small amount of detergent onto the stained area and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then rinse with cold water and repeat until the stain is gone.
Finally, if all else fails, try treating the red wine stain with rubbing alcohol. Simply apply the rubbing alcohol to the stain, let it sit for 10 minutes and then rinse with cold water. This step should do the trick!
With these steps, you can easily remove red wine stains from your ponchos. Remember to act quickly, as fresh stains are easier to remove. And don’t give up - keep trying different methods until the stain is gone.
