One of the most effective methods for removing a wine stain from polyester is to immediately apply salt to the stain. This helps absorb the red wine before it has a chance to fully set into the fabric. After pouring salt directly onto the wine spot, gently rub the area with your fingers or a clean cloth. Let it sit for about two minutes and then rinse with cold water.

If salt is unavailable, you can use a vinegar-based solution instead. Simply combine one part white vinegar and two parts cold water in a bowl, and then dip in a clean cloth. Rub the cloth onto the stain and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing with cold water.

If the wine stain is still visible after trying these methods, you may need to use a stronger stain remover. Pour a little bit of liquid laundry detergent directly on the stain and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, rinse with cold water and repeat if necessary. If the stain persists, try soaking the fabric in a mixture of half a teaspoon of mild liquid dish detergent and one quart of lukewarm water for 10 minutes.

Finally, when all else fails, you can bring your polyester fabric to a professional dry cleaner. They can use specialized cleaning solutions to safely remove the wine stain from your fabric.
