The first thing you should do after spilling wine on your mattress is to act fast. Blot up as much of the liquid as possible with a clean cloth. Do not rub the stain, as this can cause it to spread. Instead, gently blot the area until much of wine has been absorbed.

Next, create a cleaning solution using water and liquid detergent. Use warm water and just a few drops of detergent so that the solution isn't too sudsy. Spray the solution onto stained mattress and let it sit for five minutes. Then use a damp cloth to blot the area again. You may need to repeat this process several times before the stain is completely gone.

If you have an especially tough stain or if the above method doesn't work, you can try using a combination of white vinegar and water. Mix equal parts of these two liquids, spray onto the stain, then allow the solution to sit for 30 minutes. Then, blot it up with a clean cloth. For any remaining stains, simply repeat the process.

Finally, when you're finished cleaning up the mess, be sure to let the mattress air dry. Do not attempt to dry the mattress quicker with a hair dryer, as this could damage the material. Once it is fully dry, give the mattress a quick vacuum to remove any lingering dirt and debris.

If your mattress is looking like new again, great! But if you still find yourself struggling to remove a tough wine stain, consider bringing in a professional cleaning service. They will have expertise to get the job done quickly and easily.
