The key to removing red wine stains is acting fast. Blot up as much of the spilled liquid as you can with a paper towel or dry cloth, then begin cleaning the stained area with a solution specifically designed for removing stains.
Materials You Will Need
- Paper Towels or Dry Cloth
- Stain Remover of Choice
- Water
- Hydrogen Peroxide
- Dish Detergent
- Baking Soda
- White Vinegar
Step-by-Step Process
- Immediately blot up as much of the liquid as possible with a paper towel or dry cloth.
- Apply a stain remover product to affected area.
- Allow the stain remover to sit for a few minutes before rinsing it off with clean water.
- If the stain remains, make a paste of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda, and use a cloth to rub it into the stain.
- Allow the paste to sit for five minutes before scrubbing it off using another cloth dampened with water.
- Finally, wash the leggings on a regular cycle in cold water with a mild detergent, and add a cup of white vinegar to wash to help loosen the stain.
