Removing Fresh Wine Stains

The best way to remove a wine stain depends on how long it has been on lawn. For fresh stains, there are two main options:

  • Using Soap & Water: Mix 1 teaspoon mild dish soap with 1 cup of warm water and gently blot the spot with a cloth or sponge. Once the area is wet, scrub lightly in a circular motion until the stain lifts. Rinse with clean water and let air dry.
  • Using Baking Soda & Water: Make a thick paste using baking soda and water, then apply to the stain. Let the paste sit for a few minutes before scrubbing with a soft brush. Rinse off with clean water and let air dry.

Removing Older Wine Stains

If the stain has been on the grass for a while, it will be more difficult to remove. In this case, you may need to use a mixture of bleach and water. Pour 1 part bleach to 10 parts water into a bucket, then dip a sponge into the mixture and use it to dampen the area. Let the mixture sit on carpet for 10-15 minutes, then rinse with clean water. Be sure to wear protective gear, such as gloves, when working with bleach.

Preventing Future Wine Stains

The best way to prevent wine stains on your lawn is to keep an eye on your guests and make sure they stay away from the grass. You can also make sure to provide plenty of seating and table space, so your guests have a place to put their drinks.
