Tools You'll Need
- Cold Water
- A damp cloth (white or undyed)
- White Vinegar
- Bicarbonate of soda (otherwise known as baking soda)
Cleaning Steps
- Act fast. The sooner you can clean off the stain, the better.
- Soak up some of spill. Using the damp cloth, soak up as much of the wine as possible.
- Dab with cold water. Dampen the affected area with cold water again and dab, not scrub, with the cloth until the stain disappears as much as possible.
- Mix white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. Combine equal parts white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda, stirring until you achieve a paste-like consistency.
- Apply the paste. Gently apply paste to the stained area with a cloth and leave it there for 30 minutes.
- Rinse and pat dry. Once the paste has dried, rinse it away with cold water and pat dry with the other end of the cloth.
Prevention Tips
- Always keep a few microfibre cloths on hand. Microfibre cloths are very effective in cleaning spills without leaving behind any lint.
- Be mindful of where you set your drinks.
- Invest in some waterproofing products for your items.
