What you'll need:

  • Water
  • White vinegar
  • Cleaning sponge or cloth
  • Mild detergent or soap
  • Dishwashing liquid

Instructions:

  1. Mix one tablespoon of white vinegar with two cups of warm water in a bowl.
  2. Soak a cleaning sponge or cloth in the mixture and gently blot the stain until it lifts from the fabric.
  3. Rinse the hat in cold water to remove the cleaning liquid.
  4. Mix one teaspoon of mild detergent or soap into a bowl of warm water.
  5. Dip the cleaning cloth or sponge into the soapy water and continue to gently blot the stain until it is removed.
  6. Rinse the hat with cold water.
  7. If any of the stain remains, add a few drops of dishwashing liquid to a bowl of warm water.
  8. Gently scrub the area with a soft bristle brush and rinse with cold water.
  9. Allow the hat to air-dry.

Tips & Tricks:

  • Always test the cleaning solution on a small inconspicuous area before applying it to the stain.
  • Be gentle when blotting the stain to avoid damaging fabric.
  • Don't rub the stain as this may set it instead of removing it.
  • Never put a hat in the dryer.
