Step One: Blotting

Before you can get started with cleaning, you need to make sure that no more wine will seep into the fabric of your bag. To do this, take a clean cloth and press it firmly against the stain. This will absorb as much wine as possible, so that it won’t spread further into the bag. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing the stain, as this could cause the wine to sink deeper into the fabric.

Step Two: Prepare the Cleaning Solution

Once you’ve soaked up as much of the wine as possible, you’re ready to move on to preparing your cleaning solution. Start by filling a bowl with 1 liter of lukewarm water, and then add ½ teaspoon of laundry detergent to it. Mix these together until it forms a light foam.

Step Three: Submerging and Soaking

The next step is to submerge stained area of the bag in the cleaning solution. Make sure it’s completely submerged, and leave it for about 10 minutes. During this time, the detergent will help to break down the stain, and make it easier to remove.

Step Four: Scrubbing and Wiping

Once the bag has been soaking for 10 minutes, take a soft bristled brush and use it to lightly scrub the stained area. Go gently, as too much pressure could damage the delicate fabric. Afterwards, take a clean cloth and wipe away all the dirt and suds from the surface.

Step Five: Drying and Finishing

Finally, lay the bag flat on a towel and let it air dry. Try not to use any direct heat, like a hairdryer, as this could shrink or discolor the fabric. Once completely dry, you should find that the wine stain is gone, leaving your bag looking like new!
