What You Need
- Baking soda
- White vinegar
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Cotton swabs or a soft cloth
- Dry cleaning solvent (optional)
- Dish soap
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Mix together 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 2 tablespoons of white vinegar in a small bowl. This will create a paste.
- Using a cotton swab or a soft cloth, apply the paste directly to the stain. Rub paste into the stain until it starts to lift.
- Once paste has been rubbed into the stain, let it sit for 15 minutes.
- After the 15 minutes is up, mix together 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide and 1 tablespoon of dish soap in a bowl. Apply this mixture to the stain and rub it in with a cotton swab or soft cloth.
- Let the mixture sit for another 15 minutes, then rinse off with cold water. If stain is still present, repeat the process.
- For tough stains, you may need to use a dry cleaning solvent. Test the solvent on a small inconspicuous area of the shoe before applying to the stain.
Additional Tips
- Always test the cleaning solutions and solvents on an inconspicuous area before applying to the stain.
- If stain still persists after multiple attempts, it may be best to take the shoes to a professional cleaner who can properly address the stain without damaging the material.
