The key to removing any kind of stain from dobby is to act quickly. As soon as the wine is spilled, use a paper towel or soft cloth to blot up as much of the liquid as possible.
Once all the excess liquid has been blotted away, dampen the stained area with cold water. Never use hot water as this can actually set the stain and make it more difficult to remove.
Blot the area again with a clean cloth, and then apply a small amount of detergent directly to the stain. For best results, you should use a detergent specifically designed for delicate fabrics. Gently rub the detergent into the stained area and then leave it for a few minutes before rinsing with cold water.
Once the detergent has been washed away, you can use a sponge or cloth to apply a bit of white vinegar to the wine stain. Again, gently rub the area and then rinse with cold water.
Finally, you can use a few drops of ammonia to the affected area and allow it to sit for about 10 minutes before rinsing it away with cold water. This will help to lift the stain and give your dobby fabric a brighter, fresher look.
After you have finished cleaning the stain it is important to take steps to prevent future stains from occurring. First, always blot up any spills immediately. This will help to minimize any damage to the fabric.
Second, you can protect your dobby fabric by applying a protective layer such as Scotchguard. This will help to repel liquids and prevent them from seeping into the fibers of the fabric.
