What You'll Need

  • White vinegar
  • Dish soap
  • Baking soda
  • Soft cloth

Step 1: Soak the Dashiki

The first step is to soak the dashiki in cold water. Start by running cold water over the stain until it is fully saturated. This will help to prevent the stain from setting and keep it loose enough to remove.

Step 2: Apply a Mixture of Soap and Vinegar

In a small bowl, mix together two parts dish soap and one part white vinegar. Stir the mixture until it’s completely combined, then apply it directly to the stained area of the dashiki.

Rub blend into the stain using a soft cloth, working it in circles around the area until the fabric is completely saturated. Let sit for at least 30 minutes.

Step 3: Rinse Solution Out

After the solution has had time to saturate the fabric, rinse with cold water until all of the mixture has been removed. Then, use a soft cloth to dampen the stained area once more.

Step 4: Rinse With Baking Soda Water

To further dissolve the stain, create a paste by mixing baking soda with water until it reaches the consistency of a thick sauce. Apply this paste directly to the stain and let sit for up to 15 minutes.

Once the time has passed, rinse baking soda out with cold water. Continue to rinse with cold water until all of paste has been removed from the fabric.

Step 5: Dry the Dashiki

Finally, dry the dashiki with a dry cloth. Hang to air dry or place in the dryer set on the lowest heat setting.

Conclusion: Rejoice!

And there you have it – your dashiki is now free of any pesky wine stains!
