Step 1: Remove Excess Wine

The first step to removing any stain is to remove any excess liquid. If the wine has seeped into your collar, use a rag or paper towel to gently dab the affected area and lift away as much of the wine as possible. Avoid rubbing it into the fabric – this will only make it worse.

Step 2: Pre-Treat Stain

Once you've removed as much of the wine as possible, it's time to pre-treat the stain. You can use a laundry detergent or even a dish soap designed for grease spots. Apply a few drops of the detergent directly onto the stain, and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, gently rub the detergent in with your fingers, and rinse off with cold water.

Step 3: Wash and Dry Shirt

Next, it's time to wash your shirt. Turn your shirt inside out, and place it into the washing machine with like colors. Depending on the fabric of your shirt, you may want to use warm or hot water. After washing, hang the shirt up to dry – never put it in the dryer until all of the wine is gone.

Step 4: Repeat Steps if Necessary

Even if you followed all of the steps above, there may still be a stain remaining. If that's case, don't panic. Simply repeat all of the steps above until the stain is completely gone.
