The quicker you act, the easier it will be to remove the stain. Blot the area with a cloth to soak up as much of the wine as possible. Then rinse the area with cold water and gently wipe the stained area with a damp cloth.
White vinegar is a powerful stain fighter and an absolute must-have for removing wine stains. Create a solution of equal parts white vinegar and cold water and apply it to the stained area. Let solution sit for 5 minutes, then rinse it away with cold water.
Dishwashing soap is surprisingly effective at removing wine stains. All you need to do is create a paste using dishwashing liquid and water, and then apply it to the stained area. Let it sit for 10 minutes and then rinse with cold water. You can also add a bit of baking soda to create an even stronger paste.
If all else fails, you can try using rubbing alcohol on the stain. Simply pour a bit of rubbing alcohol on a cloth and dab the area gently. Don’t rub it on too hard as this may cause the stain to spread. Let the rubbing alcohol sit until the stain is gone, then rinse with cold water.
Once the stain is removed, use a mild detergent to wash the stained area. Dry the coat thoroughly and inspect to make sure stain is completely gone. You may repeat the stain removal process if necessary.
