Wine stains can be difficult to remove from fabric, but with the proper tools and methods, it’s entirely possible. The key is to act quickly after the spill before the wine has the chance to set into the fibers. Here's what you'll need to do:
- Start by pouring cold water over the stained area. This will help dilute the wine before treating it.
- Soak a cotton cloth with a mixture of half water and half white vinegar. Use the cloth to gently dab the stained area.
- If the stain is still visible, mix one teaspoon of liquid dishwashing detergent in one quart of warm water and soak the stain with the mixture.
- Once the stain has been treated, rinse the garment in cold water.
- If the stain still persists, apply a few drops of ammonia onto the fabric and rub it using a soft cloth.
- Finally, rinse the garment in cold water and let it air dry completely.
With these steps, your chambray shirt will be as good as new!
