Using a clean white cloth, carefully blot the stained area to absorb as much of the wine as possible. Be careful not to rub the fabric or you may further damage the lace.
Mix 1 teaspoon of liquid detergent with one quart of cold water in a bowl. Place the stained area of the lace into the bowl, making sure it is completely submerged. Soak the lace for 15-20 minutes, giving it an occasional gentle stir.
Remove the lace from the bowl and rinse with cool water until all traces of the detergent are gone. Gently squeeze out any excess water, then lay the lace flat on a clean, dry towel and let it air dry completely.
If the stain is still visible, you may need to repeat steps 2 and 3. With a little patience and persistence, you should be able to get your Carrickmacross lace looking like new again.
