First, blot the stained surface with a clean cloth or towel. Gently press cloth or towel onto the stained surface to absorb as much of the liquid as possible.

Second, fill a bucket or sink with cold water. Put the stained garment into the bucket or sink, and leave it to soak for up to 10 minutes.

Third, mix a solution of gentle detergent and warm water, then use a soft-bristled brush to work solution into the stained areas. Allow the solution to sit for a few minutes before rinsing the garment in cold water.

Fourth, if stain persists, you can try mixing a solution of white vinegar and warm water, and repeating the process described before. Alternatively, you can apply a commercial stain remover directly to the stain, then rinse with cold water.

Finally, remember that hydrogen peroxide is an incredibly strong oxidizing agent and can cause irreversible damage to your fabric. Avoid using hydrogen peroxide when removing red wine stains.
