We’ve all been there — you’re hosting a party, and you make one wrong move and suddenly, red wine is all over your lap. If you’re wearing your favorite pair of boxers, it can be tempting to toss them in the trash. But before you give up all hope, try these steps to get the stain out.

Step 1: Immediately Blot the Stain

Your first instinct may be to rub the wine off with your shirt or a towel, but this will only create a bigger mess. Instead, gently blot the wine stain with a clean cloth or paper towel. Make sure it is a light-colored cloth or paper towel, as dark colors can transfer the wine onto your boxer shorts.

Step 2: Cover the Stain with an OxiClean Solution

Sprinkle some OxiClean powder directly onto the stained area. Then, make a solution by mixing a tablespoon of OxiClean powder with a cup of water. Pour the solution over the stain and let it sit for 10 minutes.

Step 3: Gently Rub Stain

After letting the OxiClean solution soak into the fabric, take your fingers and gently rub the stain in a circular motion. This will help break down the stain and help it come out of the material. Be sure not to use too much pressure, as this could damage the fabric.

Step 4: Rinse and Wash with Detergent

Once you’ve removed as much of the stain as possible, rinse the boxers with cold water. Then, add them to your washing machine and use a detergent that is specifically made for bright colors. Avoid using hot water, as this can cause the stain to set in.

Step 5: Hang Dry

Once the washing is complete, hang the boxers up to dry. Never put them in the dryer, as this will cause the stain to become permanent. Once they are completely dry, check to make sure that the stain is gone.

Step 6: Repeat if Necessary

If stain is still visible, then you may need to repeat the process. You may also want to try using a stain remover or a white vinegar solution. Keep in mind that it may take multiple attempts to get the stain out completely.
