Accidents happen, and when it comes to spilled wine, they often leave persistent wine stains on clothing and fabrics. If you’ve ever spilled that beautiful glass of Burgundy on your beloved suede or leather belt, don’t worry—you can still salvage it with a few simple steps.

If the stain is still fresh, start by blotting up as much of the beverage as possible. Use a cotton ball or soft cloth to soak up the spill, making sure to press gently to avoid pushing the liquid further into the fabric.
Depending on the material, you’ll want to use either club soda or white vinegar to gently clean the stain. For leather and suede belts, pour a small amount of club soda directly onto a cotton ball or soft cloth, then dab the spot gently to prevent any discoloration. If belt is cloth or synthetic, use white vinegar instead.
Give the affected area time to air dry completely. Once it’s dry, brush away any remaining residue with a soft brush or damp cloth. If you’re working with a delicate fabric, like silk, hand wash with a mild detergent.
