Understanding Stain

Wine stains are difficult because they are acidic and can set if not treated quickly enough. It is important to act quickly to avoid permanent damage.

Gather Your Supplies

Before you begin, make sure you have all the necessary supplies: a clean cloth, mild dish soap, white vinegar, a brush, rubbing alcohol, and an old toothbrush.

Remove Excess Wine

Start by blotting stain with a clean cloth to soak up any remaining wine. Be careful not to spread the stain.

Apply Soap

Dip end of a soft brush in some mild dish soap and lightly rub it into the back of the belt where the stain is located. Make sure not to rub too hard to avoid damaging the belt.

Rinse with Warm Water

Using a clean cloth, rinse the soapy area with warm water until all of the soap has been rinsed away. Pat belt dry with a soft towel.

Apply Vinegar

Next, dip a clean cloth in white vinegar and dab it onto the stained area. Let it sit for about 5 minutes and then rinse away with warm water.

Use Rubbing Alcohol

If the stain continues to linger, saturate an old toothbrush with rubbing alcohol and gently scrub the stained area in circular motions. Rinse away with warm water.

Let it Air-Dry

Once you've removed the stain, hang the belt up to let it air-dry. Do not attempt to dry it with a hairdryer or iron as this can damage belt.
