Ann Taylor clothing is beloved for its classic designs and quality fabrics. But if red wine stains get onto your Ann Taylor clothing, it can be difficult to know how to care for them. To help, we’ve put together a few steps to make sure your Ann Taylor garment looks good as new.

Step 1: Pre-Treat the Stain

The first step of removing any stain is to pre-treat it. Immediately blot the red wine stain with a clean white cloth or paper towel to soak up as much liquid as possible. If the stain has already set in, mix equal parts white vinegar and cold water and dab it onto the stain. Be sure not to rub it in, as this can cause stain to spread.

Step 2: Wash According to Care Instructions

It’s important to read care instructions on your garment before washing, as some fabrics may react differently to different cleaning agents. Generally, Ann Taylor clothes should be washed separately in cold water and with a mild detergent. For best results, let the garment soak in the soapy water for at least 10 minutes before washing. An enzymatic detergent like Era Active Detergent or OxiClean can also be used to help break down and lift the stain out of the fabric.

Step 3: Rinse and Air Dry

Once the wash cycle is complete, rinse the garment thoroughly in cold water. Then hang the garment to air dry. If the stain still remains, repeat Steps 1-3 until it is completely gone.

Step 4: Spot Treat With Bleach (If Necessary)

If the stain persists after Steps 1-3, you can use a spot treatment with bleach. First, test a hidden area of the garment to make sure the bleach does not fade the color. If the color is safe, mix 1 teaspoon of bleach with 1 cup of water and dip a white cloth into the mixture. Dab mixture onto the stain and let it sit for 5 minutes. Then rinse with cold water and hang garment to air dry.

By following these steps and buying quality detergents, you should be able to remove that pesky red wine stain from your Ann Taylor garment. Now you can go back to enjoying time with your friends without worrying about any mess!
