Instructions for Removing Wine Stains

  • As soon as you notice stain, grab a clean cloth and some cool water.
  • Using the cloth and water, gently dab the area until you stop seeing any color transfer.
  • Mix 1 Tbsp of liquid dish soap with 2 cups of cool water (make sure it’s not hot!) in a bowl.
  • Dip the cloth into the soapy water solution and again gently dab the area.
  • Rinse the cloth often as you work and change the water when you feel it needs it.
  • Continue dabbing until the stain has been completely removed.
  • Let the area air dry.

Things To Avoid

  • Do not rub the area. This will only push the stain further into the fabric.
  • Be sure not to use hot water or a hot iron as both will set the stain in place.
  • Also avoid using bleach or harsh detergents as these can damage the clothing.

Aftercare

Once the stain is gone, you may want to consider washing the item of clothing to make sure any residue left behind is also removed. If done properly and the stain was removed quickly, there should be no damage to the garment.
