Step 1: Act Quickly

It's important you act quickly when dealing with stain removal. The sooner you are able to start the process, the easier it is to remove the stain. Work on the stain while it's still wet.

Step 2: Blot

Blot the stain with a clean cloth and cold water. Gently press the cloth against the stain and keep rotating the fabric until all of wetness has dissipated. Change the cloth and repeat this process if necessary.

Step 3: Pre-Treat

Try pre-treating the tie with a laundry detergent or specialized pre-wash stain remover. Apply it directly to stain and use a soft-bristled brush to work it into the fabric. Let it sit and absorb for a few minutes before proceeding.

Step 4: Wash

Once you've pre-treated the fabric, you can proceed with the washing. Wash tie with a mild laundry detergent according to the instructions on the label. Ensure you use cool or warm water, as hot water could set stain permanently.

Step 5: Safeguard

Once the tie has been washed, add 1/2 cup of white vinegar to rinse cycle to help safeguard the fabric from color bleeding. This will also help protect the color of the fabric.

Step 6: Air-Dry
