The Supplies

Start by gathering supplies you need for this task:

  • Vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Toothbrush
  • Clean cloth

Scrape Away Any Excess Debris

If any debris is stuck in the fabric of your swim trunks, scrape away as much as you can while the fabric is still dry. This will help loosen up any stains.

Mix Up the Paste

Next, mix equal parts vinegar and baking soda in a small bowl to create a paste. Test this paste on a small part of your swim trunks to make sure it won’t discolor the fabric.

Apply the Paste to the Stain

Once you’ve completed the spot test, scoop out some of the paste directly onto the stain and spread it around using a toothbrush. Scrub gently in a circular motion to help break down the stain. Let the paste sit on the stain for 10 minutes.

Rinse With Water

Once the paste has had time to work its magic, rinse area with cold water and a clean cloth. If the stain is still present, repeat steps until it’s gone.
