We’ve all been there—walking through a meadow of wildflowers and suddenly realizing our clothing is covered in pollen. While these flowers are beautiful, it can be tricky to remove the tell-tale yellow stains from clothing. If wildflowers have left you feeling overwhelmed and wondering how to get rid of the stains, don’t worry—we have the answers.
Fortunately, there are several easy steps that you can take to remove wildflower stains from suits. First, you will need to rinse stained area with cold water as soon as possible, which may help to loosen and remove some of the pollen. After rinsing, apply a spot cleaner or gentle detergent to the stained area, gently rubbing the fabric together to work the cleaner into the fibers. Allow area to sit for a few minutes before rinsing with cold water again. Repeat this process if necessary.
If the stain is still visible, you may need to try a more powerful cleaning agent. Spot treat the area with a solution made from equal parts hydrogen peroxide and dish soap, then rinse the area with cold water. You can also try soaking the garment in a bucket of cold water mixed with a capful of white vinegar. This should help to further break down the stain.
Finally, wash the garment as usual, making sure to check the label for special care instructions. If the stain persists after washing, repeat the process until it is removed.
To avoid wildflower stains in the future, strive to keep your clothing away from these flowers. If you are going to be spending time outdoors, wear clothing made with fabrics like wool, polyester, or nylon, as they are more resistant to pollen than fabrics like cotton, silk, and linen. Additionally, wearing a hat can help to protect your hair and head from pollen.
