Step 1: Pre-Treat the Stain

The first step is to pre-treat the stain with a mild detergent. Depending on the type of detergent you're using, you may need to mix it with a little water before applying it to fabric. Apply the detergent to a clean cloth or rag and blot the stain gently, working from outside of stain towards the center. Allow detergent to sit on stain for at least 5 minutes before proceeding to the next step.

Step 2: Rinse the Fabric

After allowing the pre-treatment to set, rinse the fabric with cold or lukewarm water. Use a soft cloth or sponge to help work the detergent into fabric. If necessary, you can repeat this step several times until stain starts to lighten. Once the stain has lightened, proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Launder the Fabric

The final step is to launder the fabric according to the care instructions. This usually means washing the fabric in a gentle cycle in cool or warm water with a mild detergent. Do not use bleach or hot water, as these can damage the fabric. Once the fabric is dry, check to make sure the stain has been removed. If not, you can repeat steps 1 and 2.
