When a spill or stain occurs on silk dupioni, it's important to act promptly. Blot away excess liquid with a clean towel or absorbent paper. Avoid scrubbing or agitation, as these may cause the stain to spread or damage the delicate fabric.

Once the area is blotted as much as possible, prepare a cleaning solution by mixing a small amount of mild liquid detergent with warm water. Dip a clean cloth or sponge into the mixture and gently dab the stained area. Rinse the cloth or sponge often in clean water, and blot away any liquid residue with a dry towel.

If the stain persists, mix a paste of baking soda and warm water, and apply it to stained area with a damp cloth. Allow paste to sit on stain for up to 10 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water. If stain still won't budge, try a commercial cleaning solution designed specifically for fabric. Always carefully read the instructions on the product before use.

Once the stain is gone, allow item to air dry, then press lightly with an iron set to a low temperature, if necessary. Remember to always test the solution on an inconspicuous area first, such as an inside seam, to ensure no damage will occur.
