First, pre-soak the fabric in cool water for about 15 minutes. This helps to remove any surface dirt or residue from the stained area.
Start by lightly dampening a sponge, then apply a small amount of detergent directly onto the stain. Work detergent into the stain using small circular motions. Rinse the sponge in clean water and gently work it over the stained area. You may need to repeat this process a few times until the stain has vanished.
Rinse the stained area with clean water and tap it dry with a clean cloth or paper towel. Make sure to check area thoroughly to ensure all of the detergent has been removed.
If the stain still remains, heat-setting is your next step. Place a clean cloth over the stain, then using a warm iron, press down for a few seconds. Continue to press the iron onto the cloth for a few moments, allowing the heat to set the stain. This helps to remove any remaining residue.
Finally, it's time to wash garment. Place it in a sink full of lukewarm water and give it a gentle swish around. Then rinse with clean water and hang it to dry.
