Before you start the cleaning process, make sure you have all the necessary supplies:
Mix together in the bowl one tablespoon of enzyme-based detergent and two tablespoons of white vinegar. Then add one cup of warm water. Stir until the ingredients are completely dissolved.
Use a soft-bristle brush to apply the solution to the stain. Work it into the fabric using a gentle, circular motion.
Once you’ve applied the solution to the stain, let it sit for at least 20 minutes. This will allow the enzymes and vinegar to break down stain and make it easier to remove.
After the solution has had time to work, rinse the area with cold water. Use a soft cloth to help remove any remaining residue. Avoid rubbing the fabric too harshly, as this may damage pongee.
Once you’ve finished rinsing the area, dry it with a clean, soft cloth. Be careful not to rub too hard so as not to damage the fabric.
If the stain persists, repeat steps three through six. You may also want to pre-treat the area with a stain remover before applying the solution.
