Cleaning wildflower stains off of lace requires some extra care because of fabric's delicate fibers. Here is a step-by-step guide to getting the job done.

Step 1: Gently Remove Excess Wildflowers From the Fabric

The most important thing to do when dealing with any stain is to remove as much of the excess material as possible. This applies to wildflower stains on lace as well. Gently use your fingers to blot area and try to remove as much of the flower matter from the fabric as possible.

Step 2: Make a Cleaning Solution

Mix together a solution of mild detergent and warm water—around two tablespoons of liquid detergent in a quart of warm water should do the trick. Dip a soft white cloth into the solution, then blot the stained area until it's damp. Do not rub or scrub the fabric—just lightly dab it.

Step 3: Rinse and Air Dry

Rinse the area with cool water and air dry the fabric before repeating steps two and three. Once fabric has dried, you can check area to see if there are any remaining traces of stain. If so, repeat the process until it's gone.

Additional Tips for Removing Wildflower Stains from Lace

  • Always test a small, inconspicuous area of the fabric first before applying any solutions or products.
  • If the stain persists, try a 2-3% hydrogen peroxide solution, followed by a clear water rinse and air drying.
  • If all else fails, bring the garment to a professional cleaner.
