Take a closer look at the clothing item and identify the type of wildflower stain. Different types of wildflower stains require different methods of cleaning. Consider whether the stain is fresh or old, oily or non-oily, and the material of the item.
Before laundering the item, pre-treat the stain by applying a professional stain remover or blood-enzyme laundry detergent directly to the stain. Be gentle when applying product and follow the instructions thoroughly.
Soak item in a sink or a bucket filled with cold water and a few drops of detergent. Let the item soak for a minimum of 10 minutes or up to overnight, depending on the severity of the stain.
Rinse the item using lukewarm water until most of the detergent is removed. It’s important to be gentle when rinsing and not scrub item too hard.
Once the item has been rinsed, place it in the washing machine with a mild liquid laundry detergent. Set the washer to use cold water and a gentle cycle.
Once the item is washed, dry it in the dryer on a low setting. If item is delicate, air-dry it instead. Do not put the item in the dryer if the stain is still visible.
Once the item is dry, check to see if the stain is still visible. If so, you may need to repeat above steps.
Once the stain is gone and the item is clean and dry, store the item in a cool and dark area to prevent any further staining.
