The sooner you treat a fresh wildflower stain, easier it will be to get rid of it. Blot any excess liquid or solid stain with a clean cloth. Do not try to scrub or wipe the stain as it may spread it further.
For water based stains like juice or beer, make a cleaning solution by mixing one part white vinegar to three parts cold water. For grease-based stains like salad dressing or lotion, mix one part dish soap with two parts cold water.
Create a warm bath that is big enough to submerge the stained area of the garter. Pour in the cleaning solution and let the garter soak for at least 30 minutes. During this time, the solution should work to loosen the stain and make it easier to remove.
Once the stain has had sufficient time to soak, take a soft brush and gently scrub the stained area. If stain persists, use a small amount of the cleaning solution directly on stain and scrub again. Try not to scrub too hard as this could damage the fabric.
Once the stain has been removed, rinse the garter in cold water. Place the garter in a washing machine and wash it with mild detergent according to the fabric's care instructions. To finish, hang dry or tumble dry on the lowest setting.
Following these steps will help you successfully remove a wildflower stain on your garter and save it from becoming a distant memory. With a few simple household solutions, your favorite accessory will be good as new.
