Materials You'll Need

  • White cloth
  • Soap
  • Laundry detergent
  • Vinegar
  • Water
  • Bleach (if necessary)

Cleaning Stain

First, check the care instructions on your down jacket to make sure you're taking the proper steps. Then, use a white cloth and a small amount of soap and lukewarm water to attempt to remove the stain. Rub the stain gently and then rinse the cloth in clean warm water before repeating. You should see the stain lightening or disappearing.

If stain is still there, mix a solution of water and laundry detergent, and dab the stain with this mixture. Again, you should see the stain gradually disappear. If the stain is still there, mix one part vinegar and five parts water and apply mixture to the stain. Leave it for 5 minutes or so and then rinse with clean water. The vinegar and water solution should do the trick!

As a last resort, you can use bleach to clean down jacket, but only if it's not a colorfast fabric. Take extra precautions when using bleach and always follow the instructions on the bottle. Once stain has been removed, rinse the area with clean water and let jacket air dry.

Conclusion

With the right materials and instructions, wildflower stains can be easily cleaned from down jackets. If any of these methods aren't working, consider taking the jacket to a dry cleaner for further assistance.
