Before moving ahead, it is important to do a spot test. Take a cotton swab and dampen it with cold water and dab it onto a hidden part of the fabric. Then, apply a small amount of cleaning solution onto the same area. If there is no discoloration or damage, then the product is safe for use for the stain.
Gently blot the area with a damp cloth until the stain is lifted. Do not rub as this may spread the stain and damage the fabric.
Choose a mild detergent that is suitable for the fabric. Dilute the detergent with water and apply it to the stained area. Allow it to soak in for five minutes.
If the stain persists, hand wash the item with a mild detergent. Submerge the item into the cleaning solution and agitate gently. Allow to soak for five minutes and rinse in cold water.
Once item has been rinsed, use a clean cloth to gently blot the area. Do not rub as this could still spread the stain and damage the fabric.
Lay the item flat on a clean surface and let it air dry. If possible, place a white paper towel under the item to absorb any excess moisture.
