Step 1: Act Quickly

The sooner you start treating the stains, the better. You don’t want the stain to have time to set in and become harder to clean. If you can, try to spot treat the area as soon as possible.

Step 2: Pre-Treat the Stain

Mix equal parts detergent and white vinegar with a bit of lukewarm water. Create enough of this mixture to comfortably cover the stained area. Use a soft cloth or an old toothbrush to gently apply the pre-treatment to the stain. Rub the stain in a circular motion and let it sit for a few minutes before proceeding to the next step.

Step 3: Rinse Out Stain

Use a damp cloth or paper towel to rinse away pre-treatment from stained area and check to see if the stain has been removed. If not, repeat steps two and three.

Step 4: Wash the Item as Normal

Once the stain has been successfully removed, it is time to wash the item as you normally would. Choose the appropriate cycle and temperature, then wait until the cycle is finished. If you can, hang the item outside in the sun to dry. The sunshine will act as a natural bleaching agent.
