Things You’ll Need

  • Cold Water
  • Laundry Detergent
  • White Vinegar
  • Borax
  • Sponge

Step 1: Treat Immediately

When it comes to removing wildflower stains from a button-down shirt, time is of essence. The longer the stain sits, the harder it will be to remove. As soon as you notice the stain, start the cleaning process.

Step 2: Soak in Cold Water

Fill a sink or bowl with cold water and submerge stained area. Allow the shirt to soak for 30 minutes to an hour. If the stain still remains after soaking, move onto the next step.

Step 3: Spot Clean

Mix together a solution of laundry detergent and white vinegar. Using a sponge, apply the mixture directly to the stain and gently rub in a circular motion until the stain is lifted. Rinse the area with cold water.

Step 4: Treat With Borax

If the stain is still visible after spot cleaning, you can try using Borax. Dissolve one tablespoon of Borax in one cup of warm water and mix together. Apply to the stained area and scrub with a sponge until the stain is lifted. Rinse with cold water.

Step 5: Launder

Once all traces of wildflower stain are gone, launder the shirt according to instructions on label. Tumble dry as usual.
