Broomstick lace is an intricate and unique crochet technique that combines a few simple stitches to create a stunning and airy fabric. Unfortunately, the dyes used in wildflowers can easily leave their mark on this delicate material. Fortunately, removing these pesky stains doesn’t have to be difficult. Here’s our guide to getting rid of wildflower stains from your broomstick lace:
Fill a sink or tub with cool water and add some gentle detergent or dish soap. Submerge your broomstick lace fabric and let it soak for about 30 minutes. Then, rinse the fabric in cold water, until all of the detergent is gone.
Mix one part white vinegar and two parts cold water. Dab the mixture onto stained area and let it sit for 15 minutes. Rinse with cold water and repeat as necessary.
Once the stains are gone, remove any remaining residue by laundering your fabric. Use cool water and gentle detergent or a mild soap. To avoid further damage, allow your broomstick lace to air dry.
To prevent wildflower stains from ruining your broomstick lace in the future, treat it with a fabric protectant before working with wildflowers. This will coat the fibers and help repel stains.
