The first step in removing a wildflower stain is by pre-treating it as soon as possible. Before you start any other cleaning process, take a damp cloth and dab (not rub) at the stained area. Blotting helps absorb excess dye or moisture from the fabric. Once the cloth is no longer picking up dye from the fabric, you can proceed to next step.
For light materials such as silk or linen, make a diluted solution of mild detergent and water. Use a separate clean cloth to apply the solution to the stain, then rinse with clean cold water. If the stain persists, repeat the process with a higher concentration of detergent. Never use hot water as this can set the stain.
For dark materials such as wool or cashmere, you should use a specialized fabric cleaner or a specialized product that is suitable for wildflower stains. After applying the solution to the stain, rinse with clean warm water. Never use hot water as this can set the stain.
When finished with the cleaning process, lay the garment flat to air-dry. Refrain from using a hair dryer, as this can set the stain. Before you wear the garment again, brush it gently to ensure that all the soap residue is gone. Alternatively, you can dryclean the garment in extreme cases where the stain is deeply set in the fabric.
