If you’ve ever encountered a white wine stain on your wallet, you know how difficult it can be to get it out. But with the right products and knowledge, you can make easy work of removing that stain. To help restore your wallet to its original condition, follow these simple steps.
Soak a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol and blot the stain with it. You may need to repeat this step several times depending on the severity of the stain. However, if you don’t see any results after the first application, don’t keep applying the rubbing alcohol as it may damage the material of your wallet.
Mix one teaspoon of dishwashing liquid with two cups of water. Soak a clean cloth in the solution, then press it onto stain and blot until the clear water is no longer lifting the stain. Make sure to rinse the cloth often so that you’re not just spreading stain around.
Vinegar is a great spot cleaner for white wine stains. Simply create a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water, and apply it to the stain with a clean cloth. Allow solution to sit for 10 minutes before blottig with a damp cloth. Repeat if necessary.
For tougher stains, you may need to a pretreat with a laundry stain remover prior to laundering. Follow the directions on the product's label and be sure to perform a spot test on an inconspicuous area of the wallet before using.
Once you’ve removed as much of the stain as possible, you can put your wallet in the washing machine with a mild detergent and launder according to the care label’s instructions. Machine-washable wallets should do fine, but leather wallets should be washed by hand.
