- One teaspoon dishwashing liquid
- Distilled white vinegar
- A sponge
- A damp cloth
Steps to Remove Wine Stains from Velvet
- Mix together a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid in one cup of warm water.
- Gently dab the stain with sponge and the dishwashing solution until stain has been removed.
- Blot the area with the damp cloth to remove any remaining soap residue.
- If the stain persists, mix 1/4 cup of white vinegar with 1/4 cup of warm water and dab the area with this solution. Blot with a damp cloth.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 as needed.
- Allow the area to air dry.
Tips for Preventing Future Stains
- Always have drinks and snacks on trays or mats so that any spills are easily managed.
- If you do spill something, blot rather than rub the stain.
- Vacuum the velvet furniture regularly with a soft brush attachment.
- Do not use harsh chemical cleaners on velvet fabric.
