Step 1: Blotting the Stain

The first step to getting rid of a white wine stain is to blot area with a damp cloth. The key here is to always work from the outside of the stain inwards, using a light dabbing motion. This will help to absorb as much of the liquid as possible without spreading it out further.

Step 2: Pre-Treat With Detergent

Once you have blotted the stain, pre-treat the area by rubbing a small amount of mild laundry or dish detergent into the fabric. Allow this to sit for up to an hour before proceeding to the next step.

Step 3: Apply White Vinegar and Soap Solution

Combine 1 teaspoon of white vinegar with 2 tablespoons of a mild liquid soap in a bowl and mix until it forms a soapy solution. Dip a clean cloth into the solution, ensuring that it is not too wet, and gently rub the stained area. Let this sit for five minutes before continuing to next step.

Step 4: Rinse and Dry

Once you have treated the stain, rinse off the soapy solution with cool, clean water. Blot the area dry and hang your umbrella outside in the sun to air dry.
