Dust the Stain

Once you’ve noticed a white wine stain on your silk satin, the first step is to dust the stain to remove any dry particles that could make the stain worse. Take a clean, soft cloth and lightly brush it against the stain in a circular motion. Don’t use too much force or scrub too hard, as this could damage the delicate fabric.

Mix Water and Mild Detergent

Once the dry particles are removed, mix together ¼ teaspoon of a mild detergent and 1 cup of warm water. Dip a clean, soft cloth into the mixture and gently dab the stained area of the silk satin. Don’t rub the stain, as this could cause the stain to spread. Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes before continuing to the next step.

Rinse with Cold Water

Once the detergent mixture has had a few minutes to work its magic, rinse the stain with cold water. Use same soft cloth dipped in cold water, and dab it onto the stained area. When rinsing, be sure to move in one direction - don’t scrub the stain, as this could further damage the fabric.

Pat Dry

After rinsing, pat the area dry with a clean, soft cloth. To prevent water spots from forming, pat the area until it is almost dry, and then let the fabric air dry for about an hour. Once the fabric is completely dry, check the area for any remaining stains. If there is still a stain, repeat process until it’s gone.
